Diabetes mellitus is a medical disorder characterized by persistent variable hyperglycemia (high blood sugar levels), resulting either from inadequate secretion of the hormone insulin or from an inadequate response by the body's cells to insulin. There are three kinds of diabetes mellitus, called type 1, type 2 and type 3, and some authors in the field of diabetes research identify a type 4 diabetes.

Our health is an issue not to be taken lightly. Many of us are afflicted at some point in our lives by sickness, disease, or minor health problems. When such things occur, it may be essential to adapt a new lifestyle or diet. One of the more common health issues that a number of Americans grapple with on a daily basis is diabetes. Once this health issue is established, the individual will typically need to diet for diabetes, or develop a new and improved eating routine that decreases any risks or complications. I have seen this issue up-close and in-person ever since my mother developed diabetes herself.

I recall around five years back, my mother developed a mild case of diabetes. Her doctor told her it was most likely due to her diet and weight. Americans certainly need to work on this particular issue. The fact is that thin is healthy, whether people want to hear it or not.

I have to admit I wasn't surprised at all when my mother acquired diabetes. Growing up, I watched her live off of Coke and coffee. That can't be healthy. Now it was time to diet for diabetes, and ditch all of those refined sugars. Over the past five years I have really seen her adapt to her dilemma and diet for diabetes in a healthy fashion. This truly increases your health and life span if you do it right.

Our story may be a bit different from many due to the fact that my wife and I both had bariatric surgery (gastric bypass) 4 years ago. As a result, our digestive systems do not produce near the amount of acids to break down foods that normal stomachs do.

However, the surgery requires an even more careful selection of food. There is an ongoing battle to balance nutritional needs while fighting nausea and pain.

After receiving your material, we have completely changed our shopping list and meals.

We plan our meal combinations much more carefully and we are having fun experimenting with the new recipes.

It then occurred to us, since we have been doing this, we have had pain free days and nights and each day we have felt a little better mental awareness, a sense of wellness, and more "spring in our step."

This system is making a difference. We feel we are on a better path towards a healthy lifestyle.
