I dont know much, but someone told me it might be a good idea to get tested.
There is a history of thyroid problems and obesity in my family. I have chronic dry eye. there are other things too but these are just a few because i dont want to freak myself out.

How exactly do they test you for diabetes? and what causes it?

Just a patient, but they test your blood with a pinprick and a meter. It’s better if you haven’t eaten; so get an early appointment and maybe someone to drive you. If I don’t eat my blood sugar gets low and I can sort of fall asleep even while driving. Yikes. The doc will also ask about frequent ********* daily , so you might count that for a couple of days.

It’s serious, so get to a Doctor, please

These other things may help in the diagnosis .but the important diagnostic aid is blood test for sugar simple, easy and quick

I would recommend you go get a blood test; as the other answerer alluded to, you’ll likely have to be fasting. They can do a test to find just fasting sugars and a test for your sugar levels over the last three months (same vial of blood).

Diabetes is caused by an endocrine imbalance. There are two types – type I and type II. The first one is also called “juvenile diabetes” as it tends to crop up at a young age and is diagnosed and can be very dangerous, often requires insulin from the get-go. Type II is called “adult-onset” and can be triggered from obesity, insulin production, and other endocrine imbalances. It can often-times be treated with cutting sugars from ones diet, exercise, and a reduction in any weight along the abdomen.

This is just a brief, unmedical, overview.

They test your blood for diabetes and they know right away.

You have extreme thirst and alot of urination, blurred vision and weight loss.

Just get tested and find out.
