5 Meals Per Day on a Healthy Diet – I Lost 22 Pounds of Weight in 8 Weeks
An entire lifestyle change in regard to eating is what is required if you need to lose weight. A program with a online Diet generator helped me with my own weight problems. The diet does not require you to purchase any special diet pills, diet shakes, replacement meals or herbal remedies.

6 Steps To Avoid Getting Fat Again After You Lose Weight

Many of today’s magazines and web sites throw out negative weight loss statistics, such as “95% of people who lose weight gain it back.” But scientific studies about why people regain weight are contradictory. Some blame genetics, but research shows that heredity is only one small factor in weight gain or loss. To answer your question, we turned it around and searched the Web for information on people who had lost weight and kept it off. By looking at these successes, we hoped to learn why others have failed.

The Take Shape for Life team of doctors uses the BeSlim Philosophy that works for the vast majority of people after they have reached their target weight.

They seem to have discovered the secrets to long-term weight loss, but these are no quick fixes. According to Dr. Wayne Andersen, “To keep lost weight off, people must change their approach to exercise and develop new habits.” They’ve identified six behaviors common among people who’ve kept the weight off which embodies the BESLIM Philosophy:

1) Breakfast Every Day
High quality fuel is essential to start the day off right.

2) Exercise
Continued exercise increases metabolism, provides strength, flexibility and mental clarity.

3) Support
Mentors and coaches help you reach and maintain your goals, providing the coaching, tools, education and caring support you will need along the way.

4) Low Fat Meals
Eating 5-6 times a day frequently, controlling portion and total calories, especially those from fat, are critical for success.

5) Individual Plan
Create an Individual plan to help you achieve an optimal healthy lifestyle and build the skills and strategies people need to cope with modern life.

6) Monitor
Weigh yourself on a regular basis to maintain optimal weight. Catch it before it becomes a challenge.

So, to go back to your question, it would appear that people regain weight they’ve lost because they don’t change the unhealthy habits that lead to the weight gain in the first place. Many people are attracted to the promise of quick, easy weight loss through fad diets that restrict certain kinds of foods or prescribe very specific food combinations. While you may lose weight initially on these regimens, they’re not designed to be followed for a lifetime, nor are they healthy over the long term.

The BeSlim Philosophy offers realistic steps on how to keep those pounds off. The Diet Channel outlines similar strategies for weight maintenance but not the same. While it’s not as easy as taking a pill, building healthy, lifelong habits can help keep you fit and trim for the best years of your life.

It has been estimated that in the United States that over 44 percent of the population suffer from obesity. So now more than ever a lot of people are trying to find effective methods to lose weight.

Nowadays diets are all the rage. There are so many methods of dieting that have come out, and have claimed to be the most effective way to lose weight.

But the problem with this is that most of these diets are just fads, and end up hurting individuals rather than helping them lose weight! Some diets tend to rob too much nutrients from a person’s dietary plan by cutting too much calories off of their meals!

It is important to remember that every person is different, and has his/her own dietary needs. This is why it is vital to find the special diet that works for you!

Here’s a list of the different types of special diets that have become popular:

Diet Shakes- Basically this is a meal substitute that comes in fluid form. Instead of eating, those who want to lose weight drink diet shakes in place of a meal. The problem with diet shakes is that some dieters are not satisfied with just having a diet shake for their meal. They constantly have to battle food craving.

Diet meals that are prepackaged- These are low fat meals that have been prepackaged and follow a strict calorie count. Portions of these meals are also moderated. The great thing about this dietary plan is that meals are healthy and nutritious. Plus, they are convenient since it has already been prepared. But the downside to this type of diet is that it tends to be very expensive. Especially if individuals plan to stay to this type of eating plan for long periods of time.

Low carb diet- This is a special type of dietary plan that restricts a person’s intake of carbohydrates. Dieters have to undergo phases in which they have to avoid specific foods, such as those that are high in carbohydrates like breads, pastries, cakes and pies.

Medical experts have stated that carbohydrates have a tendency to stimulate
a person appetite. During various phases in this diet, dieters are only allowed to eat certain foods that come from different types of food group. Serving portions are also moderated.

Those who undergo this type of dietary program are also educated about nutritional values of foods. They are also given a list of all the foods that they can incorporate into their diet. Low carb diet requires individuals to change their eating plan. In order for this to work individuals have to be extremely dedicated in sticking to their dietary meal plans.

There are a number of books that have been written about the merits of a low carb diet. There are also hundreds and hundreds of low carb recipes that are online. So for those who want to know more about this diet, or just want ideas for their next meal, they can do some research on the net to acquire more information about this special type of diet.

Tips on choosing the right diet that works for you

1. Before undergoing any type of diet individuals must first do some research and learn everything they can about the diet the they are about to incorporate in their lifestyle.

2. Those who have a pre-existing medical condition should first consult their doctor before undergoing any type of diet.

3. If individuals feel some physical discomfort a few days after trying out a new diet, they should immediately stop this diet and consult their physician.

4. Be realistic. Special diets that claim to help you lose ten pounds in a week is not a practical method! If anything this kind of diet endangers your health!

Dieting to lose weight is a big issue with many people. But when choosing a method a person has to remember to always be practical. Dieting should be done safely, and should never post any risks to the person who wants to lose weight. Maintaining health should always be a top priority when it comes to dieting.

Fat Cells: The Weight Loss Threat Over 40

Fat Cells: The Weight Loss Threat Over 40

Men and Women over 40 wanting to lose weight permanently face an identical problem: The fat amasses much easier after 40 and is trickier to lose too.

Storing fat used to be important for survival, and fat is a great storage medium for energy. Throughout history, we have relied on our body fat to endure numerous shortages and starving periods.

Nowadays, the ability of our bodies to store fat easily endangers permanent weight loss. Let’s understand how fat cells work and why it is so challenging for men and women over 40 to lose weight permanently.

If your body takes in more energy as you spend present fat cells fill up. Eating fat, starchy or sugary foods makes no difference – all additional calories are stored as fat. When the fat cells you already have are full, the body produces new fat cells, a physical process with no limits.

Fat cushions grow even to a greater extent when you are under tension, but the threat that poses the most danger to losing weight over 40 is: Existing fat cells won’t be destroyed. You can shrink the number of fat stored in fat cells, but you cannot reduce the amount of existing fat cells.

If your fat cells are full, they transmit a Neuropeptide to your brain called Leptin. While the Leptin level in your blood is high, your brain gets the message that you aren’t hungry and don’t need to eat. But when your fat cells are exhausted, the Leptin is missing- and you are getting starved.

Let’s be honest and face the truth: If you need to lose weight permanently over 40, you’ll have to live with a light feeling of hunger most of the time. This is an emotional challenge and that’s why I stress so much the psychology behind permanent weight loss- your mind needs ways to cope with that emotional challenge. In order to lose weight permanently, any weight loss program you choose must include moral advice to be efficient.

With women, the distribution of fat varies with age also. For young women, it’s frequently on the hips and on the tights. Women over 40 will frequently gain fat on the belly, and visceral belly fat is associated to a number of diseases.

Our bodies are equipped with powerful regulation mechanisms. We tend to have the identical weight, even though we do not eat the same amount of calories every day. The body compensates periods of low calorie consumption with periods of higher calorie intake- leading to another problem to lose weight permanently over 40:

If you over-eat for a long period of time, your body will adjust to the new weight and will try to sustain that weight. You will always feel the demand to fill up the present fat cells. And the longer you are on starvation diets, the worse the feelings of hunger can grow.

It is actually very easy to acquire weight. If you consume only 100 calories per day in excess of what your body burns, you’ll acquire roughly 9 lbs (4.5 kg) per year. And these 100 calories are very easy to acquire. For example, a 12 oz. can of Coca-Cola contains 155 calories, and a Kit Kat Wafer Bar has 218.

To eliminate these 9 lbs you would have to eat nothing for roughly 2 weeks. Or jog 51 hours, or walk 126 hours.
This all goes to show that if you want to lose weight permanently after 40, small meals and snacks add up, so be mindful of what you eat.

If you are a woman over 40, this is for you:After doing work 1 on 1 with clients I’ve finally produced a free, personalized program for women over 40. It delivers permanent changes. This program is customized to your special needs and designed to help you to lose weight permanently. Get your free, personalized “Lose Weight Permanently” program by clicking on the link below:

Why you Should not Follow a Weight Loss Diet

Lucinda Reynolds asked:

How many times have you tried to lose weight? How many times have you been successful? Losing weight is no easy task. In fact, it may be harder than quitting smoking. Many people cannot lose weight and keep it off because they make a serious mistake from the beginning. This mistake is to follow a weight loss diet. That’s right, if you want to lose weight and keep it off, you should not follow a weight loss diet. Keep reading to uncover the reasons why a weight loss diet will set you up for failure.

Losing weight is really not that hard once you learn to change your thinking about food. Over the years, you have learned to connect food with just about every event in your life. You celebrate holidays with food. When someone dies, the first thing that happens is the neighbors start showing up at your door with food. A wedding is celebrated with a huge wedding cake and plenty of food. The list goes on and on.

You have probably learned to turn to food for comfort. In times of stress or sadness, you may have learned that certain comfort foods will make you feel better. The result is a lot of extra pounds that keep adding up year after year and are now very difficult to take off.

So now that you are desperate to lose weight you will try every new weight loss diet that comes down the pike. This is where you are making your mistake. A weight loss diet may reduce your calories, have you eating all proteins or have you counting every calorie that goes in your mouth. Yes, you may lose weight, but now what? Do you know how to keep the weight off? Following a weight loss diet will get you nowhere. Changing your eating habits will get you everywhere.

The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to look at food in a whole new way. Start looking at food as a fuel source for your body. Don’t look at it as comfort, hormone replacement therapy, or a filler for the void that is missing in your life. Food is only meant to fuel our bodies and to keep us healthy.

Once you start to change your thinking about food, losing weight will become easier. Now make it a habit to eat six, small, healthy meals a day. The more often you give your body a little fuel, the faster it will burn the calories. Ramp up the calorie burning by switching to diet soft drinks and be sure to get in six to eight glasses of water daily.

So there you have it. Your best chance for losing weight and keeping it off. Stop following a weight loss diet and start making healthy food choices. It really is simple.

Detecting Fad Diets 101

September 24, 2008 · Filed Under Diet plans, Main Content · Comment

The Appeal of Fad Diets

Fad diets are easy for just about anyone to fall for. When you first decide to lose weight, it can be tempting to do something drastic. You feel like you just can’t spend one more day overweight. This mind-frame sets you up for falling for the empty promises of scams. Here are some pointers for identifying and avoiding fad diets.

A Sure-Fire Sign of a Fad Diet
The most common sign that a diet is a fad diet is that it promises quick weight loss. Fad diets make unrealistic promises, such as, “Lose 30 pounds in 30 days!”. Diets that lead to rapid weight loss (more than about two pounds a week) are not nutritionally sound and are almost always too restrictive to be adhered to for any considerable period of time.

Fad Diets Bring Results… Temporary Ones

The weight you lose when you start a fad diet is comprised mainly of body fluids, or water weight. The catch is that this weight usually comes back — with a few extra pounds added, too. Losing so much weight, so soon, gives dieters a sense of accomplishment, but when the weight inevitably returns, the cycle starts all over again.

The temporary results can often lead to frustration, depression and a sense of failure. The sad part is, people often follow fad diets because of these very same feelings, so they get caught up in a cycle of constantly going on and off unsound diets. In the end, they feel worse, and sometimes, weigh more than they did in the first place.

Typical Signs of a Fad Diet

Here are some more clues that you’re considering a fad diet:

* Fad diets are typically very low calorie, which is unhealthy and can even be dangerous. Most people can lose a substantial amount of weight on a diet of around 1,500 calories a day, which allows for at least three 300-400 calorie meals and two 100-200 calorie snacks. If a diet requires you to eat fewer than 1,200 calories a day, if you are a woman, or fewer than 1,400 calories a day if you are a man, it is not nutritionally sound.

* Fad diets usually require sudden, drastic changes, such as completely eliminating an entire food group or cutting your caloric intake by too many calories. Making such rapid changes does not prepare you for returning to normal eating or teach you how to make important lifestyle changes such as portion control or making better food choices, skills which are crucial for long-term weight management.

* Fad diets are often low on vegetables, fruits, and whole grains, which means they are short on the foods that provide many important nutritional needs, resulting in malnutrition and poor health. Depending on the type of diet plan, it may be deficient in protein, carbohydrates, fiber, or important vitamins and minerals, or they may provide too much protein. Fad diets do not provide guidelines for a healthy, long-term eating plan.
