Catastrophic medical conditions, Heart attacks, cancer, etc for three times the cost of a good HEALTH CARE system.

Is there no American citizen out there who wants a National Health Care Systen which promotes and educates to achieve a healthy society.

It would seem that the intelligent question is not how will we afford to treat all the future sick people but how do we keep our society as healthy as possible. It just seems like a no brainer.

Hi…I’m helping an author write a book. He needs some specific examples of recent medical breakthroughs (say in the last 10 years or so), new drugs, or innovations made possible by the increased processing speed of computers and/or the ability to communicate quickly over long distances. Suggestions can be in any aspect of medicine, but we are especially interested in cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or obesity.

The more specific details or links you can provide the better, since we will have to source our references in the book.

Thanks to everyone who contributes.

How has increased computer processing speed and the Internet contributed to recent medical breakthroughs?

Batty asked:

No other lifestyle or medical condition such as blood pressure, cholesterol, obesity, syndrome X and then illness such as cancer, liver disease etc labels a person such as we do with diabetes. We are people with our own identity and personality with a pancreas or insensitivity to insulin problem. Type 1 is in any case like HRT, the body only lacks the ability to produce insulin and therefor requires the replacement of this specific hormone.

My two cents asked:

if so what is the web site. I just saw something on cbs video that shows shorter life spans for women by states and now i am wondering which states have the highest and lowest by states. Mostly because i am in South Carolina and I noticed when i went home to Houston TX for 9 months, I lost four sizes in cloths and gained them back when i came back to SC. Either way a study to look at would be nice. And yes i know my wieght depends on my diet.

Diabetes, heart attacks, cancer, strokes, back injuries etc etc. Our nation is ver stressed, over weight and under nourished and it’s killing us. Not to mention, driving health care costs through the roof.

What is really wrong with us, what are we looking for in food that we don’t get elsewhere?

Joel asked:

In a such a wealthy and powerful country, where almost everyone has access to clean healthy food, I do not understand why so many people choose to neglect their health. America is obviously overrun with obesity, diabetes, cancer, etc. and yet American’s knowingly choose to lead inactive and unhealthy lifestyles void of proper nutrition and regular exercise.
My apologies, I should have put “most Americans” (over 50% are obese).
