The Zone Diet's eating plan occurs as combination of a little quantity of low-fat protein, fats, and carbohydrates in the form of fiber-rich fruits and veggies. Proteins should be eaten with every meal and at every snack. Carbohydrates should be twice the size of the protein portion. These include veggies, beans, and whole-grains. "Bad" carbohydrates such as brown rice, bananas, pasta, muffins, etc. should be considered only as a small portion of the meal.
